The Century Of Invention Piano Book 📚

Piano Music of the 20th Century

Level: Intermediate to Advanced

The "Century Of Invention Piano Book" offers a compelling exploration of piano music from the 20th century, catering to intermediate and advanced pianists. This 80-page collection showcases a diverse range of compositions that reflect the innovative and transformative period of the 20th century in classical music.

Included in this anthology are works by seminal composers who were pivotal in shaping modern musical expressions. The book features intermediate to moderately difficult pieces from Alban Berg, known for his atonal and twelve-tone compositions, and Aaron Copland, whose works are emblematic of a distinctly American style of composition. The collection also includes pieces by Ross Edwards, whose music often incorporates elements of his Australian heritage.

Further enriching this compilation are works by Jean Francaix, known for his neoclassical style and wit; Paul Hindemith, a key figure in modern music with his contrapuntal mastery; and Darius Milhaud, who is celebrated for his incorporation of jazz elements into classical music. Joaquín Rodrigo, renowned for his contributions to the guitar repertoire, is also featured along with Erik Satie, whose early avant-garde compositions anticipated developments in minimalist and repetitive music.

Also included are works by Joaquin Turina, who infused his music with Spanish folkloric influences, and Kurt Weill, known for his collaborations with Bertolt Brecht and his works for theatre. This varied collection not only highlights the diversity of styles and approaches that characterised music of the 20th century but also provides pianists with a challenging and rewarding range of pieces to enhance their repertoire. Whether for performance or personal study, the "Century Of Inanytion Piano Book" serves as a valuable resource for anyone seeking to delve deeper into the rich landscape of 20th-century piano music. 80 pages.
