Who was Joseph Haydn?
Joseph Haydn (1732–1809) was an Austrian composer who played a crucial role in the development of classical music, earning the titles "Father of the Symphony" and "Father of the String Quartet." Born in a small Austrian village, Haydn's musical talents led him to a career as a choirboy in Vienna before becoming a court musician for the Esterházy family, where he composed extensively.
