Marche Gaie Arranged For Piano Book

Lili Boulanger's 'Marche Gaie' resurfaced in 2011 after being lost for nearly a century. Originally composed in 1916 for chamber orchestra, this lively and spirited work has been arranged for piano solo in this edition. 'Marche Gaie' was dedicated to Jeanne Leygues, the daughter of a prominent French politician, and it is believed to have been written for her wedding in December 1916, as it contains an allusion to Mendelssohn's famous *Wedding March*.

This piano arrangement captures the charm and historical significance of Boulanger's composition, making it accessible to pianists. A wonderful addition to any repertoire, it reflects Boulanger's unique compositional style and her fondness for musical quotation and allusion.
