Who was Robert Schumann?

Robert Schumann (1810–1856) was a German composer, pianist, and influential music critic of the Romantic era. Born in Zwickau, Saxony, Schumann initially studied law but eventually turned to music, studying piano with Friedrich Wieck, whose daughter Clara he would later marry. 

As a composer, Schumann's output is vast and includes piano music, songs (lieder), symphonies, chamber music, and choral works. He was particularly renowned for his piano compositions, such as "Kinderszenen" (Scenes from Childhood), "Carnaval," and the "Fantasiestücke" (Fantasy Pieces).
