"Shake Rag Alley" for String Orchestra (Grade 2.5) is a vibrant and modern take on the classic Ragtime style, composed by Matt Turner. Known for bringing popular music styles into the string orchestra repertoire, Turner has crafted a piece that is both fun and educational, providing students with the opportunity to explore a distinctly American genre.

The piece follows a multi-strain form (AABBCCDD), with a twist on the traditional Ragtime structure. The D-section, although distinct, is a variation of the A-theme, while the Trio or C-section introduces a key change to the subdominant and a more lyrical character, typical of ragtime trios. 

Performers are advised to maintain a "straight" approach to the rhythm, avoiding the temptation to swing the quarter and eighth notes, and to keep the tempo at a march pace. The Trio section allows for some expressive rubato to highlight its legato quality, before returning to the strict tempo for the conclusion.

If you have not received your parcel within this time, please get in touch with us and we will open an enquiry for you. 

It is your responsibility to ensure that the correct delivery address is provided. Express Shipping is available. Please allow 1 day for handling and 2 to 2 working days for delivery, or longer for remote areas. Music2u will not replace any lost or delayed Australia Post items if the Economy Shipping option is selected at checkout.

  • Untracked Shipping is an untracked shipping option offered through Australia Post with a Priority stamp. No tracking number is provided with this service. Please allow 4-7 business delays for delivery of your order. 

  • Standard Shipping is a fully tracked service offered through Australia Post. A tracking number will is provided once your order is shipped. Please allow 2-6 business days for delivery of your order. NT and WA customers should allow 6-8 days.

  • Sendle Courier is a courier service provided to most areas in Australia with deliveries being handled by Couriers Please and Aramex. Please allow 2-8 business days for delivery of your order.

  • Express Shipping is a fully tracked Express Service offered through Australia Post/Toll Priority.  A tracking number will is provided once your order is shipped. Please allow 1-3 business days for delivery of your order. NT and WA customers should allow 3-6 days.

Tracking Your Order

You will automatically receive your tracking information via the email you provided in the checkout as a tracking link. You can see the status of your parcel's journey there. If your parcel is taking longer than expected, let us know so we can locate your order. If selecting Economy Shipping, you will receive an email confirmation to notify you that your order has been shipped from our warehouse. You will not receive a tracking number for this service. 

Pre Orders

Please note that all 'single' pre-order books that arrive back in stock will ship via the standard Australia Post untracked service. The items that are in-stock will ship via your selected method at checkout, pre-orders will ship un-tracked when they arrive as to not incur an additional shipping fee.
