A Collection of 250 Step-By-Step Practice Methods For Violin Tuition

750 Musical Examples Over 336 Pages

"Practice for Violin" by Simon Fischer is an in-depth guide aimed at violinists seeking to improve their skills through targeted practice. The book consists of 250 carefully designed practice methods, spanning 336 pages filled with more than 750 musical examples. These examples are culled from over 100 works in the standard solo violin repertoire, serving to illustrate the various technical and musical challenges that violinists typically encounter.

The book takes a comprehensive approach to the complexities of mastering the violin. Simon Fischer dives into an extensive range of practice techniques, explaining each in thorough detail. He covers all the key components of violin playing, including tone production, intonation, bow strokes, vibrato, harmonics, pizzicato, shifting, double stopping, and much more. The book also offers insights into the broader aspects of musicianship, such as developing a strong musical memory.
