Mozart - Sonatas Volume 2 (Piano Solo) Book 📚

Genre: Classical

The "Mozart - Sonatas Volume 2 (Piano Solo) Book," published by Edition Peters, is an authoritative resource for pianists and classical music aficionados alike. Compiled and edited by Wilhelm Weismann, this edition aims to provide the most reliable interpretation of Mozart's works, based on the earliest printed editions and Mozart's own autograph scores. The book is rooted in the tradition of Urtext editions, seeking to get as close as possible to the composer's original intentions.

This volume benefits from the research and insights of earlier Urtext editions, particularly those by Max Pauer and Martin Frey, serving as foundational references for this edition. The 322-page book is part of an ongoing series aimed at capturing Mozart's unique performing style and is designed to serve both performers and scholars.

Emphasising authenticity and reliability, this volume offers a detailed and comprehensive look into Mozart's piano sonatas, making it a valuable addition to any musician's library.

Who Was Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart?

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756–1791) was an Austrian composer and musician, widely considered one of the greatest composers in the history of Western classical music. Born in Salzburg, Mozart showed prodigious talent from a young age, composing his first music at just five years old. He went on to produce an enormous body of work, including symphonies, operas, chamber music, piano works, and choral compositions, despite his short life—he died at the age of 35.

Mozart's music is known for its emotional depth, technical brilliance, and melodic inventiveness. His compositions spanned virtually every musical form and genre of his time, and his influence on subsequent generations of composers is incalculable. Some of his most famous works include the operas "The Marriage of Figaro," "Don Giovanni," and "The Magic Flute," as well as symphonies like Symphony No. 40 in G Minor and his Requiem Mass in D Minor. His works are regularly performed and studied to this day, and he remains an iconic figure in the world of music.
